At a District Securiry Council meeting held today at the behest of the District Chief Executive, Hon. Millicent Kabuki Carboo, an agreement was arrived at that, all arbitrary and illegal fares being charged by Transport Associations in the District must cease. In a cordial atmosphere, the Transport Unions and Operators numbering eight (8) agreed to revert to the approved fares across the district tomorrow, the 24th of April 2024.
In a remarkable turnaround, they in unison agreed to do the needful. The Unions heads present at the meeting were the Chairmen for G.P.R.T.U 1, 2, and 3; Kwamekrom, Abotoase and Worawora Branches; Global Millennium Transport, Kwamekrom and Abotoase, Hope and Safety Transport Unions, Abotoase, etc.
Heads of transport unions were glad to be enlightened by the inputs of the District Security Council.
